Overview of Mon Amour, Friend or Foe
Paulette, one of the main characters, joins a chemistry study group tutored by the handsome Guy de Laval. Then she accepts Guy’s invitation to join the French Resistance in May of 1940.
Paulette becomes involved in helping injured Allied airmen through the American Hospital and at Guy’s safe house. However, he is often gone for weeks at a time, and she becomes suspicious since he refuses to discuss his mysterious absences.
Paulette is arrested, sent to prison, and treated brutally by the Nazis. But German Colonel Lorenz Dietrich becomes smitten with her. He insists that he, not de Laval, truly cares about her. Warning her not to continue harboring Jews or political fugitives, he releases her from prison.
Can Paulette love and trust Guy enough to withstand the dark forces surrounding her?
